A pretty and elegant drop leaf desk in «Barocchetto» style, faithfully reproduced from the original dating back to the 1700s in Venice. The «Barocchetto» style is mostly Italian: it appeared during the first half of the XVIII century and became immediately popular throughout the Italian peninsula. This style represents the historical continuation of the rich exaggerated lines and voluminous forms of the previous Baroque style, but in a less imposing and above all more functional interpretation. This elegant desk for the centre of a room is supported by four tall, curved legs, adorned at the top with a flower and leaves carved by hand. The fact that this desk can be positioned in the centre of the room indicates that all four sides are designed and worked in detail to be seen and appreciated, so that it needs not be positioned against a wall. The base of the drop leaf is produced in solid spruce, veneered in chestnut briarwood, maple filleting, and a walnut interior, all with a thickness of 3 mm. The drop and the four legs are in lime wood. The drop leaf presents some profiles highlighted with the ebonizing technique that, upon request, will not be applied. Please feel free to contact us with your requests.
