Bureau in eighteenth-century Venetian style, characterised by elaborately sculpted projections and recesses. The front of the bureau features three drawers, each with three waves. The four short, s-shaped legs the bureau stands on are embellished by hand carvings. The drop is also sculpted in three motions and the same motif can also be found on the two smaller sides. The body is in solid wood, which was later veneered with precious walnut burl contoured with inlaid maple fillets. The complexity of this piece makes it difficult to reproduce: only an expert cabinetmaker is capable of constructing a piece similar to this one. The polish is antiqued and finished with shellac and beeswax. Once last little detail is the presence of a secret compartment to be revealed at the moment of purchase. Please feel free to contact us in case of doubts: we will be happy to provide further details and information.
