Typical eighteenth-century bureau made in Verona. The bureau is a faithful copy of the original that is part of the home decor of a man of means. The body is mostly sculpted by hand using traditional tools and white spruce. This type of wood, which grows in the northern hemisphere and therefore in cold and temperate zones, is indeed considered a “soft” wood, which is necessary to carry out this type of work. The body was modelled, sanded, and prepared to be veneered entirely with briarwoods, maple fillets, and walnut sheets cut vertically. Inside the drop leaf are four drawers that fill a central compartment with a sculpted top. We will be happy to answer any questions you might have. NB: the briarwood used to cover the structure of the furniture is found in nature, as it is a totally natural element. It is therefore our duty to specify that the forms and motifs that the briarwood forms on the surface of this piece will vary from one to another. This handmade attribute will make your furniture one of a kind in the world. For more information, please feel free to contact us. We will be pleased to provide you with a description of how this antique decorative technique is carried out.
