Simple chest, an original of the XVIII century and almost certainly from a rural family. The humble origins are indicated by the absence of frivolous ornamental motifs. The piece has been subjected to extensive restoration in its structure, where the craftsman integrated some missing pieces, like the moulding and the four feet, with newly-made replacements.
Originally the model would have had a lock and key that over the centuries have been eliminated and replaced with a cherry wood inlay that recalls the shape of a shield. The front, both sides, and cover of the chest are in Italian walnut. The back and bottom were constructed in spruce. Please feel free to contact us for any further information.
