Reproduction of  «Portrait of a little girl holding a battledore and shuttlecock» by Paulus Van Somer

    Location: private collection

    Era: 1621

Information: Paulus Van Somer spent most of his existence at the court of Queen Anne of England. His pictorial production is characterised mainly by portraits of English nobility. The work at hand portrays a little girl, certainly of noble origins, given the luxurious garments, before or after a game of badminton. The frame, in lime wood, was painted black with gold leaf added in the corners.  The entire frame was subjected to intensive ageing.

The two paintings are sold together as a pair.

Reproduction of «Portrait of Kurprinz Karl Albrecht von Bayern» by Martin Maingaud

    Location: Pinacoteca di Monaco

    Era: 1703

Information: Martin Maingaud was a French artist at the service of European nobility as a portrait painter. He especially worked at the Bavarian court, where he portrayed many famous people. The painting at hand portrays Carlo Alberto of Bayern in one of his first portraits. The young age of the subject is in sharp contrast with an overly-regal and static pose, which would be unnatural for a child of this age. The garments themselves are in contrast with the tender age and innocence of this child.
