Sideboard that was reproduced following the stylistic criteria of the Late Italian Renaissance, that started in 1540 circa. The sideboard’s structure was made using solid American walnut, and it presents four drawers and two central doors. There is one carved capital that lays on each of the four turned columns. Of great importance was the aging process that the artisan carried out on the solid wood. The walnut color is in perfect harmony with the ebonized frames and the golden color present on the capitals. Inside there is an hidden compartment that will only be revealed to the future owner of this piece.
The Renaissance (1400-1600) was a movement that started in Italy, and renewed the popularity of the Classicism’ features, almost appearing like an reaction against the aesthetics criteria coming from Northern Europe that were considered inexpressive and empty. At the base of the Renaissance there was the renewed discovery of the Humanism and the Classic beauty. However, it was not an imitation of the Classic era, but more like establishing a new meaning for mankind and life. The newly found found sense of dignity and human capabilities made it possible to put humans at center of history and to make them masters of their own destiny. A proper intellectual revolution started, which touched many areas among which art and aesthetic standards.
