A special reproduction of a trumeau in mid-XVIII century style, constructed in the mid-XX century by a talented cabinetmaker. The stylistic standards on which the craftsman based his work are those of Dutch Rococo. Some distinctive elements of that style can be found, like the floral motif of the inlays. The craftsman however drew only inspiration from that Dutch artistic school, as during the construction of the secretary desk he opted to adapt it to better suit Italian tastes. Indeed, the base of this piece was finely covered in beautiful elm burl veneer contoured by strips of quarter-cut walnut veneer. The upper part of the trumeau has a door with a mirror with an elaborately carved frame. Inside there are two shelves.

One detail worthy of note is the unusual projection of the front and curved brackets on each side that expand excessively in the lower part. The scrolled coping is enriched with a carved shell in the centre that strongly recalls the Baroque style. Finally, the trumeau stands on feet in the shape of a lion’s paws.
