A unique chest from the late 1600s originating from the region of Emilia-Romagna, but with an important stylistic influence from the nearby region of Veneto. During that period, decorative inlaid elements were in vogue, demonstrating the skills of the craftsmen in the region who had only basic and rudimentary tools available to them.
The chest is in Italian walnut, while the bottom and the back were made in a wood from a fruit tree. This chest was restored carefully because it was necessary to bring the exquisite inlay on the front back to life.
