An austere chest in the style of the 1600s, but constructed around 1750 in the region of Emilia-Romagna. The style, simple and linear, distinguishes this Italian region from the others that were often influenced by other artistic and stylistic movements. The chest in question reproposes the simple and austere classic model that was extremely common between the XVII and XVIII centuries. The drop of the chest was totally reconstructed in recent times, using the same essence of Italian walnut that makes up the rest of the body of this piece. The restorer also replaced the inside bottom of the chest using old spruce wood.
The simple design of this chest, already described above, make it easy to adapt to both modern and designer decor. The enhancement of a room – that is furnished mostly with designer pieces – with antique furniture brimming with history creates an imaginary time line that links the past to the present, making it all very avant-garde.
