Antique chest dating back to the 1600s from the Italian Apennines near Modena. Stylistically speaking, this is a very particular piece as it features some decorative characteristics that indicated how it was used. On the front we can observe the designs obtained by using a metal punch that pitted the surface of the wood. The decorations on the front suggest that the construction of the chest was commissioned to contain a dowry.
The chest exterior is in Italian walnut, while the bottom and back are in black walnut. This chest is certainly one of a kind, above all for its having survived in a perfect state of maintenance. We are always available to answer all your questions.
