A wonderful reproduction of a Genoese Trumeau in late 1700s Italian style, embellished by four-leaf clover details in olive wood veneer on the front and sides. We can admire the extraordinary workmanship of the herring-bone pattern in rosewood that only a master cabinetmaker could have created. Rosewood owes its name to the fact that it comes from the plant that bears the most famous flower in the world. If one considered the size of rosewood in nature, it is not difficult to imagine how much rosewood was used to be able to cover the entire structure of this secretary desk.
This is the intrinsic value of this authentic work of art. The moulding of the coping and the frame of the drop leaf, always in rosewood, are further exalted by a palisander frame all around. Along both front legs there are decorative ornaments in gold-plated bronze. The trumeau was then finished in a coat of shellac and polished with wax to highlight the pink hue of the wood.
