Table/writing desk dating from the end of the eighteenth century, of the Piedmont region. It gives a perfect example to show how the French style was influencing the cabinetmakers at the time. The main feature of such style can be identified with the essence of mahogany present along the panel and the lowering part. The production of this artifact is the result of many processes (the making of the furniture in its raw state, veneering, ebonizing and polishing) carried out by specialized experts.
The writing desk has undergone a delicate restoration process that brought back all its functionalities. On both the short sides there is a capacious drawer. The panel has been covered with real green calfskin, which is embellished with a golden decoration applied using hot foil stamping.
