IS-047-TR (UNFINISHED)

$22,748.00

A perfect reproduction of a Genoese Bureau-trumeau of the mid-XVIII century, not yet completely finished and for this reason defined here as «unfinished». This elaborate Genoese furniture fully respects the trends of furnishings from the Liguria region of Italy during the late 1600s and early 1700s. Given the geographical proximity to France, they drew much inspiration from French tastes, which often involved the use of exotic woods like rose, palisander, Indian walnut, and so on. The importation of such precious woods was facilitated by maritime trade, which was booming during that period. Italian furniture of that era, which was inspired by French counterparts, could be distinguished from the latter for the use of both exotic woods and local ones like oak, walnut, olive, and so on. Our secretary desk was constructed totally in larch and later embellished with rosewood veneer applied in a herring-bone pattern.

We opted to photograph unfinished furniture because it is easier to observe the herring-bone production process that covers the entire surface. During the finishing phase, the gold-plated bronze ornaments will be added to further enhance the trumeau. As we are aware of the peculiarities of this piece, please feel free to contact us for any type of information. We would also be happy to provide you with further photographs and potential details.
