An important secretary desk in eighteenth-century Lombard style, made of two parts: a base and a top. We cannot avoid calling attention to the elegance of the sinuous lines that extend even along both sides. They are highlighted by the inlaid palisander fillet that creates the sensation of having carved pillars. The base of the trumeau is in solid spruce and was successively finished in walnut and walnut burl with the veneering technique commonly used in the XVIII century. In the top, just under the two mirrored doors, there are to thin, extractable shelves that were used as candle holders. Trumeaus were important accessories of decor found in the villas of powerful men who used them as formal furnishings in reception rooms and more. Initially trumeaus were found in large halls as they were used to reflect light off their frontal mirrors. Later in time, trumeaus were also used as container for small precious objects and collections. The top holds two wooden shelves that can be used for books, photo albums, or other objects.
