Original secretary desk constructed in Emilia Romagna during the first half of the seventeenth century. The front presents three smooth and frameless drawers enhanced by two turned columns which connect the corners of the upper top with the ones of the lower part. The austerity of the furniture’s shape suggests its place of origin; e easily can affirm that in the past it was used as a furniture for cottages. At the time, the functionality was the guiding element for the small-town carpenters. The secretary desk – made with solid walnut wood – ha been entirely restored. The holes of the missing locks have been plugged with shield-shaped cherry wood.
The blond walnut color was obtained by mixing different grounds and patinas which were manually applied and successively strengthen with various rubs of shellac.
