Paintings
Our “paintings” section contains many canvases hand painted by highly-qualified and talented professional Italian artists. Our reproductions of more or less famous paintings makes it possible to bring the art of beauty into private homes. Each of our paintings is created in conformity with a traditional procedure that involves the artist from the very beginning: the preparation of the “virgin” canvas.
The frame that stretches the linen or cotton canvas is in poplar wood that, if necessary, can be constructed in a variety of sizes and shapes. The canvas, before being painted, is prepared with a coat of rabbit-skin glue and plaster of Bologna (sometimes several coats, depending on specific needs) Later, the plaster-coated canvas is sanded and smoothed so as to obtain a surface deemed ready to be painted. This is the traditional technique of historic masters that is still used today.
Our master artists are capable of creating any reproduction of a painting that you would like to propose. The delivery time and price will be communicated based on your request.
All our frames, both antique and modern, are in wood. Some of them are finished in gold leaf on plaster of Bologna, commonly known as gesso oro, or gilded plaster. Its function is to close the pores in the wood and prepare a hard and smooth surface for the successive operations involved in the application of the gold leaf.
Personalised paintings will be proposed in a variety of frames from which the client can then make a selection.
